My training at the Davao Medical Center ended last Thursday. If you are to ask me how it went I could say it was a very enriching experience. I love it there, the people are warm and friendly despite the fact that it is a government hospital meaning the place is overflowing with patients but I really did not mind. It is really different working and loving what you are doing because no matter how tired you are at the end of the day you will still look forward working again the following day. I will surely miss all the people I worked with there, the doctors, clerks, radtechs and interns.

It was almost the perfect training experience for me if not only for one very unfortunate event that took place on my last day. A patient died in my examination table, my first time to have someone die in front of me. The patient, a female, at her late twenties and just recently gave birth to twins. She was admitted to the hospital two weeks after giving birth. Her physicians were considering viral hepatitis that is why she needed to undergo ultrasound examination for correlation. She was brought to us twice during that day, the first time we examined her we were forced to send her back to her room because she was having trouble breathing. We were about to close for the day when the nurse station called us up and told us that the patient really needs to be examined. The resident on duty told the nurse that they need to stabilize the patient first before bringing her back to us. They said she was already stable, we asked them to have one doctor accompany her during the examination. While we were examining her she had a cardiac arrest and was rushed to the emergency room. The following day my sister told me that the patient did not make it.

Until now I can't seem to get that whole experience to go away. Although I know it was not my or any of us' fault why she died it's just that the thought of having someone die in front of you and can't seem to do anything about it bothers me. I hope her soul rest in peace and condolences to the family she left behind.

that was a sad experienced; she is too young to die and her twins too young to have lost a mother....well, there is nothing you can do about it, but pray for her soul and the family she left.

i hope you are feeling better now, plus it is nobody's faut as you said.

musta na nga pala? it has been awhile.
