I used to have three credit cards, now I don't even have one. It's been two years since I decided to give them all up but until now I am still paying for my debts. I decided to cut-off all my cards because I started noticing that my monthly dues are going up but my debt is rising with it. I have problems controlling my credit card usage so might as well live without it. It was two years ago when I decided to take on the debt elimination mission. For the first few months I felt I was losing the war, I lack the skills and the strategies that could help me win the battle. That's when I decided to seek professional help and help was what I received. I stumbled upon Dave Ramsey, a financial guru who wrote 15 pieces of advice to help people like me who wants to completely erase most if not all of my debts. Following Dave Ramsey's advice indeed helped me in my struggle.
Furthermore I continued to educate myself, I figured getting myself out of my current situation is not the end. I should make sure that I understand what I am paying for and who to pay it to. I learned about creditor"s and debtor's rights, as well as the role of collection agencies that are considered as "third-party" collectors hired by creditors themselves. I also learned that before paying these agencies you should clear things with them and should ask for proper documentations during each payment.
After these experience I am hoping to fully erase all my debts very soon and never get myself into the same trouble ever again.

I prefer cash over credit cards. I have some debit cards, which is still better. I wish you best of luck to pay off your debts :)
