Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is characterized by:
Persistent deficits in social communication and social interaction across multiple contexts;
- Restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior, interests, or activities;
- Symptoms must be present in the early developmental period (typically recognized in the first two years of life); and,
- Symptoms cause clinically significant impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of current functioning.
My four year old son, Liam, was diagnosed with ASD eight months ago. Since then he has been undergoing occupational therapy and speech therapy at the same time. After 8 months we went back to his pediatrician for evaluation, to know if there is any progress and I was so happy that he has meaning all the therapies are working.
