Another festive Kadayawan Festival is going to happen this year. The city mayor officially opened the festival last Monday and will last for one week. The festival highlight will occur this weekend which will feature the Indak-indak sa Kadalan (street dancing) on Saturday and the floral float parade on Sunday. The city tourism office has already announced that the number of tourists coming into the city has increased significantly.
The Kadayawan festival is held every year and is tag as the king of all festivals. It is meant to give thanks to the abundant harvest, since it is usually during the month of August that fruits, vegetables and crops are also abundant in the region. It also celebrate and honor the different tribes in the Davao Region. Tribes like the Manobo, Samal, Maranao, Tausog, Matigsalog, Ata, Kagan, etc.
