World number two Roger Federer suffered a major upset during his match against 12th seed Jo-Wilfred Tsonga of France. Federer won the first two sets easily but Tsonga came back and played better tennis thus winning the match (3-6, 6-7, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4). It was during the third set where Tsonga was able to break Federer's serve that he started to serve better and generally played better.
Tsonga faced Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals but was not able to pull off the same result.The other semi-final match was between Rafael Nadal and crowd favorite Andy Murray. But Murray was not able to capitalize on the support that his countrymen gave him.
