If you ca see how my sister's nails looks like, I am so sorry I cannot show you a picture she won't let me. She is ashamed of how her nails look like, she has been nail biting since we were kids and until now she is still doing it. She has consumed (is that the right term) half of her nails already, which is why her nails look awful.
Scientific term for nail biting is Onychophagia, I've looked it over the net on why people nail bites so that at least I could help my sister out. Because over the years I would hear people talk about it, they say it has something to do with self-confidence others believe that it is because the person lacks a certain vitamin in the body. I know my sister want to stop doing it, but since it is already become a habit there are times that she does it unwittingly. I know the effort is there because there was a time I've been seeing her taking multivitamin, she said it might help.But it didn't, all along nail biting is considered an impulse control disorder and can only be treated by behavioral treatments like behavioral therapy, habit reversal training and stimulus control.
