But I’m sad. Why? I can see a lot of potentials in Filipinos to excel in different kind of sport but unfortunately the Philippine government lacks the proper attention to develop such potentials. They are not able to come up with programs that would help harness raw talents in the grass roots levels.
In Davao City for example, Davao is the one of the biggest if not the biggest city in the Philippines but I am sad to say that until now the city doesn’t have its own sports facility. A city as big as ours should have one to accommodate sporting events which would eventually lead to the discovery of young bloods who will eventually replace Filipino sports heroes like Paeng Nepumoceno, Manny Pacquiao, Efren Reyes, Lydia De Vega among others. And maybe produce new athletes that would excel in sports we have not excelled yet.
There is no denying that most of Filipino men love basketball. I have nothing against men who play basketball and want to become the next Michael Jordan. Sadly now a days the Philippine basketball scene is being invaded by players from abroad. Ballers who are half-breeds and are much taller and more skillful. I can’t understand why we can’t be interested in sports that we know we can be really good at. Filipinos are naturally not the tall race, the number one and most important characteristic of a basketball player. But we are nimble and quick traits which are needed to be a good football player, tennis player, baseball player.
Hmmm..Just a thought…

Hmmm.. Umaandar ata ang pagiging frustrated player ng sister ko jan?
just kidding hahaha
Well, its our government who doesnt focus on the youth to encourage them to do sports by providing them a modest place to show off their skills and enhance their interest.
Thats why only boxing and basketball are the only sports that we can say being catered by most pinoy fans. Other than that, I couldnt think of other sports already..
